COOL K-9 is based in Boulder, Colorado. Company President Justin
Weihs conceived the hydro-garment idea when his spaniel, Jax, suffered heat exhaustion
one summer day in 2003. Soon after, Weihs, then a student at the University of Colorado,
meet Professor Igor Gamow. Gamow holds ten patents, including the famous "Gamow
Bag," which saves lives of people suffering serious altitude sickness.
The two became best friends. Weihs approached Gamow with his idea, and with
the help of Gamow's wife, Elfriede, they produced the first prototype in early
2004. A patent is pending and the two man team has found success in Colorado
pet stores.
Jay Henry, owner of Chow Down Pet Shop says “Everyone who has purchased a COOL K-9
jacket has come back with exceptional feedback.”
